We have decided to roam in a counter clockwise rotation around this vast country. This means leaving NC in June of 2012 and heading north for Maine. From there we will drive west into Canada and drop south into Michigan and the Great Lake area. We will then proceed west through the Dakotas, Montana, Idaho and end the summer in Oregon/Washington state. The beginning of August/September will usher in the season of ALASKA. We will be taking the bus through the Yukon territory, up to Denali and then back south.
Our later half of the trip will involve driving south through California. The canyon country of the Southwest will be next, with stops in Utah, Arizona, and maybe Colorado. Finally, before Thanksgiving of 2012, we will be returning to good ol North Cackalacky.
With all of these pieces to put together, we could really use peoples personal expertise or advice on: where to stay, what to see, and who you might know in these areas!
We will be living out of the bus during our travels from point A to point B. However, our goal is to spend most of our time in National Parks and in remote wilderness areas. This will involve weekly backpacking, paddle trips etc. If you are interested in any spot we make in particular, please let us know. We are excited already by the amount of support we have received from family and friends!
Thanks to you all and cheers to adventures to come! You can contact us at eabordley@gmail.com with any advice or comments.
